Orders

Q. I live in Europe. Can I order your products online?
A. We can accept your order via the Web only if you are in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the UK you can place orders using the UK Store. For orders outside of this area, please contact your local SPSS office location.

Q. I would like to pay by credit card. What types of cards do you accept?
A. For orders in U.S. dollars, we accept American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. For orders in Canadian dollars, we accept MasterCard and Visa. Regretfully, at this time, we are unable to accept web orders with Discover or Canadian orders with American Express.

Q. I would like to pay by check or purchase order. Can I do this?
A. All Web orders must be paid with a credit card. If you would like someone from our sales department to contact you, please click the Call Me radio button on the payment page. Your order will be placed only after an account representative has contacted you.

Q. I was charged a different amount than the cost listed on my confirmation page. Why?
A. The tax amount on the confirmation page is your general state sales tax. Your total may be higher if your county or city has a separate tax. Taxes are reconfigured based on your address at the time your order is processed.

Q. My organization is tax exempt, how do I get the tax charge removed from my order?
A. You can use the message box to let us know your order should be exempt. If SPSS has a copy of your certificate on file, we will use that certificate. An associate may call you to get a copy of your certificate if we don’t have one on file. If you submit your order without a message saying you are exempt, tax will be added. If you realize after you’ve submitted your order that you are tax-exempt, please send an e-mail to sales@spss.com.

Q. I don’t see all of the products you sell on your Web store. How do I purchase those products?
A. Currently, we only offer a selection of SPSS products via our Web store. To purchase other products, please contact our sales department for more information.

Q. I live in North America, but attend a college or university in another country. Can I receive the academic rate?
A. SPSS offers our academic pricing to degree granting institutions that are based in North America only. If you would like to purchase our software, please contact the local SPSS office in the country in which your institution is located. They may offer academic discounts. Your other option is to purchase our software via the Web store at the commercial rate.

Q. I think I’m eligible for academic pricing, but I’m not sure. Who is eligible for academic pricing?
A. To purchase from the higher education store, you must be employed with a degree granting institution (faculty or administration) where the institution is paying for the software, and it will be installed on that institution’s computer. If you are a student, please view our education section for options and purchase information.

Q. I am a student and just need SPSS for a short-term project. Is there a way I can rent your software?
A. If you are planning to use the software for student needs, you may go to www.journeyed.com and purchase the SPSS Graduate Pack, which is specifically designed and licensed for student use, or you can go to www.e-academy.com and rent the software for the duration of your course or project.

Delivery

Q. How long before my product is shipped?
A. Although we try to process Web orders within 24 hours of receiving them, orders received after 10 a.m. may ship the following business day. The shipping method you chose during checkout is an estimated time AFTER the package reaches FedEx or DHL. For urgent shipments, please call 1.800.543.2185, option 2, and one of the associates can let you know of your options.

Q. Can I have my software delivered by the post office or private courier?
A. No. We ship all of our software via FedEx in the United States and via DHL in Canada.

Q. My order is being shipped to Canada, and my delivery fee is calculated at $125. Is this correct?
A. Yes. All books and software orders to Canada include a goods and services tax based on your province as well as a $125 importation fee. Training and other services are not charged taxes or import fees. If you think you have been charged this fee in error, please call 1.800.543.2185, option 2.

Q. What is electronic software delivery (ESD)?
A. SPSS now offers single user licenses of SPSS Base (with or without modules) and Amos as a download. If you choose this option, you will not be charged shipping and handling fees. Taxes may apply depending on your state's tax laws for electronically downloaded purchases. Processing times for these orders can take up to 24 hours but orders placed before 10 a.m. Central time may be processed and sent the same day. If you would like to order via ESD or have any questions, please call 800-543-2185, option 2 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central).

Q. I’m having problems registering my SPSS product. Can you help?
A. Visit our registration page at: www.spss.com/registration/. The middle box on this page allows you to create a new registration for our Web site as well as register your products (the link at the bottom of that box).

Q. How do I access your Technical Support Web site?
A. The Technical Support section of our Web site is located at: support.spss.com. This site is only for support information, and is only available to licensed customers. If you need a Support log-in, please go to: support.spss.com/GetId.asp.
