SPSS European Directions Conference, 2009

SPSS Inc. would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s Directions conference in Prague!

We hope you enjoyed the event, and that you successfully maximised the many opportunities to network with colleagues, peers, and SPSS Inc.’s own predictive analytics experts.

As always, delegates flocked to the talk by Alex Kormushoff, SPSS Inc. Senior Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations, who this year spoke about the certainty of predictive analytics in any economy.

One of the most interesting and informative sessions was the keynote presentation by Marcus du Sautoy, Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford.  It was an entertaining and unusual approach to predictive analytics that provided a convincing new perspective on how mathematics drives analytics, and how that knowledge can be used to improve the predictive capacities of an organisation.

Delegates also had a chance to socialise with colleagues and explore the past at the evening reception at St. Agnes Monastery, where attendees and their guests enjoyed a memorable evening in an elegant setting.

The final event of the conference was the closing reception, which also provided the platform for the announcement of the SPSS Insight Award™ recipient, which this year went to RSA (formerly Royal & SunAlliance), the UK’s largest commercial insurer.

The presentation of the award was a fitting conclusion to what was, as ever, an outstandingly successful event. We look forward to seeing you next year!
