  • Benefits, Perks, and Privileges

In addition to offering employees a comprehensive, competitive and flexible benefits program, SPSS also offers a wide range of perks and privileges.

    Flexible Benefits Plan
SPSS offers a flexible benefits program that allows employees to develop a personalized benefits package with a pre-tax savings advantage. Flexible benefits include medical and dental insurance for employees and their dependents, two reimbursement accounts (health care and dependent care), transit and parking reimbursement accounts, voluntary life insurance, and 401(k) plan.

    Medical Coverage
SPSS offers its employees health coverage immediately upon date of hire at no cost until the first day of the month following their hire date. Employees in the Illinois office may choose from two Preferred Provider Options (PPO) or two Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans. Employees in all other states are offered two PPO options. The PPO option is a traditional (indemnity) medical plan that allows participants to choose from both in-network and out-of-network physicians. Participants in the HMO plan must choose a medical group and a primary care physician who will coordinate all of their health care services. All plans include a prescription drug and vision benefit.

    Dental Coverage
SPSS offers its employees dental coverage immediately at no cost until the first day of the month following their hire date. Employees in the Illinois office may choose from a Dental PPO plan or a Dental HMO. Employees in all other states are offered the Dental PPO plan.

    Reimbursement Accounts
Health Care Reimbursement and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts enable employees to pay predictable health care and dependent day care expenses with dollars that are set aside before taxes are deducted. Health care expenses eligible for reimbursement from the Health Care Reimbursement Account are generally those that are not covered by the medical and dental plans such as deductibles and co-payments, vision care, hearing care, orthodontia, etc. Day care expenses are eligible for reimbursement from the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account for dependents as long as the dependent resides with the employee and is claimed as a dependent on the Federal Income Tax Return. In addition, expenses incurred must be for day care services that allow the employee and/or spouse to work outside the home. This may include the cost of a childcare center, a baby-sitter, or a nurse to care for a disabled spouse or a dependent parent. Employees are eligible to participate in the Health Care and/or Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts on the first day of the month following the hire date.

Transit and Parking Reimbursement Accounts enable employees to pay for transportation to and from work with dollars that are set aside before taxes are deducted.

    401(k) Plan
Employees may contribute up to 60% of their annual earnings to the SPSS Inc. 401(k) plan with pre-tax dollars. SPSS will also match 50% of the first $1,000 of participants' 401(k) contributions per plan year as long as the employee is active on December 31st. Thus, the maximum SPSS contribution will be $500 per plan year. The SPSS match will be distributed to participants' 401(k) accounts as soon as administratively practicable after the end of each year.

Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan on the first day of the month following the hire date. The Plan also accepts qualified rollover accounts from previous employers.
