When using the new Aggregate Storage Option in ShowCase Essbase 7.1, I sometimes notice that my data has been cleared. What type of outline changes on an Aggregate Storage Database will cause data to be cleared or not cleared?
The Aggregate Storage Option (ASO) was introduced in ShowCase Essbase 7.1 as a new way to store and calculate data. Using ASO, you can create applications that previously were too large or complex for your systems, expanding the value of ShowCase Essbase to your enterprise.
If you take the following actions, Essbase Analytic Services will restructure the outline and clear all the data on an Aggregate Storage Database:
The actions below will restructure an outline and delete the stored aggregation, but they will not clear the loaded data (level 0 data). Rerun the database aggregation after these actions:
The following actions will cause an outline restructure, but they will not clear the data:
Using the ASO, you can calculate cubes more rapidly, refresh data more frequently, and provide more timely information. However, you must be aware of the result of the actions that you choose.
