Is it possible to create a Dimensions metadata file from a Microsoft Word document?
Yes, you can use a Word document to create a Dimensions metadata file with the new WordCapture accessory that installs with Dimensions 3.0. Figure 1 below shows an example questionnaire that needs to be converted into mrInterview metadata.

To convert the single response question—"Were you aware of this Dimensions Application?"—highlight the word in the line that you want for the variable name and type the letter "s." This creates a single response question and uses the whole line as the text for that question.
Now highlight or select all of the responses—in this case, "Yes" and "No"—and type the letter "r." This creates the two valid responses for this question. A similar principle applies to the grid question. Select part of the title and type the letter "g"—this constructs a grid question. Select the first column (for subjects) and type the letter "j," thus capturing the subjects. Select the first row with the text of the responses and type the letter "r."
Figure 2 below shows how the screen looks after you've opened the Word document and the two questions have been assigned their metadata.

Tip: In WordCapture, if you click on View->Show/Hide Word Toolbars, you'll see the Word toolbar above the default Help Manual that opens. You can now click on the Print icon to print the Help Manual.
