Sequoia Hospital measures what works best for cardiac patients
Since 2000, Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, has relied on our predictive analytics software to detect patterns in its repository of cardiac care data. The repository contains information from more than 10,000 patients, including details such as mortality rates, how long each patient's surgery took, whether any complications developed, what medications were prescribed and other aspects of care. Analysis of this data provided surgeons and nurses with insights that enable them to improve patient care. For example, IBM SPSS software showed that the patients who received a certain anti-clotting drug before surgery experienced problems with bleeding during surgery. As a result, physicians now postpone surgery for patients who have taken this drug.
