Quancept provides a powerful scriptwriting language that efficiently handles simple or complex requirements. Your survey can contain any number of questions in any order—rotated, randomized, or fixed—and you can program any number of logical checks, controls, and routes throughout the questionnaire. Answers can be single response, multiple response, numeric, or verbatim, and displayed in any order. You don't have to be a programmer to set up surveys. Your researchers can create surveys using an easy-to-use Windows-based design package such as Quanquest™, or your operations staff can write the Quancept language directly.
For the easy handling of multilingual surveys, Quancept CATI enables you to use a variety of translation tools, including Quanquest, mrTranslate™, and the Qolyglot utility. You can present a choice of languages to the interviewer or respondent.
Starting the interview is easy. Normally all the interviewer has to do is request a telephone number to dial, and Quancept provides the number together with any additional respondent information that is available, such as name and occupation. The interviewer records the call outcome (busy, no answer, refused, successful connection, etc.) and then starts interviewing. If mrDialer is used with Quancept CATI, numbers are automatically dialed and the interviewer simply waits a few moments for the next respondent on the line.
Quancept's sophisticated and customizable sample management system (SMS) tracks the status of all calls automatically. With SMS, you can set rules, such as "re-try a busy number every 30 minutes," and priorities so interviewers don't have to. Quancept's standard procedures, or algorithms, are designed to cover the most widely used sampling rules. You can also customize these algorithms, using virtually any sampling procedure.
For example, decide if interviewers can schedule appointments to call back respondents whose lines are busy or only if a respondent requests that the interviewer "call back later." Or, decide to schedule appointments for business surveys during working hours and domestic surveys in the evenings or during the weekend. Before an interviewer makes a call, Quancept CATI can check first if any appointments are due, if it's time to re-try busy numbers, or determine if a re-try on a busy number has priority over a previously scheduled appointment.
Using Quancept CATI, supervisors are in full control of the interviewing process, and have a direct view of surveys as they happen. Some controls enable supervisors to gain knowledge about the survey responses, even while they're in progress. For example, supervisors can view reports that show:
While working in a live environment, supervisors can check interview qualifications. For example, when looking at the sample information, they can give French-speaking respondents to the interviewers who speak French, or send certain samples to their "persuader interviewers," interviewers who have low refusal rates.
Supervisors can also review samples to ensure enough numbers are available, and then instantly make changes when needed. For example, if there's a shortage of telephone numbers, supervisors can adjust the sample management rules. They might decide to re-try the "no answer" numbers or re-try the "busy" numbers five times instead of four before discarding them.
Supervisors can also monitor the quality of the interviews. They can see any interviewer screen at any time, from anywhere—in the phone room or outside. And if you use mrDialer, your supervisors and even your customers can monitor interviews both remotely and on-site.
You may know who your target respondents are for a particular survey. For example:
Because Quancept CATI automatically keeps track of these target groups, or quotas, you never interview more people than you need to. Quota information could come from the respondent's answers during interviewing. For example, "Can you tell me whether you own a car?" or through information you may already have about the respondent (Tel: 212.555.5555; State: New York). The supervisor can check the progress of the quotas, and even change the target figures.
