Clementine Server’s open, standards-based architecture enables you to maximize the value of your existing database assets. You can access data in many types of databases and in spreadsheets or flat files. Clementine Server automatically generates SQL for any supported ODBC-compliant database and, in addition, performs in-database modeling in major databases offered by IBM®, Oracle®, and Microsoft®, improving the speed and scalability of these operations.

Reduced network traffic

Because the three-tier architecture enables you to translate many data mining operations into SQL for execution, you can perform data mining processes at the database level. (If you have a high-performance database system, you can further maximize performance.) Only relevant data will be passed to Clementine Server, reducing the strain on your network resources. Additionally, you don’t have to change data formats or transfer data from one tool to another, further reducing the amount of data on your network.

Increased productivity

Automate production tasks or schedule jobs to run at convenient times by using the Clementine Server batch mode feature. Run large jobs overnight to optimize your IT resources, and perform model building or scoring without requiring manual intervention from any analyst.

Enhanced processing with high-performance systems

Additional functionality available only through Clementine Server enables you to further improve performance while taking advantage of your high-performance hardware investments. Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) machines, which are widely used and available for all Clementine Server-supported platforms, enable parallel processing for data pre-processing and model-building tasks. For example, Clementine Server uses a parallel sorting algorithm to improve the performance of a number of data processing operations. With parallel processing, you can also optimize predictive model building for certain algorithms, as well as execute multiple algorithms or other processes in parallel.

Deploy data mining insights and predictions

Clementine Server enables you to extend the benefits of data mining throughout your enterprise. You can integrate results easily with other SPSS offerings and with your existing IT systems.

For example, through Clementine Server’s batch mode feature or the Clementine Solution Publisher Runtime™ component, you can deploy data mining streams to run in the background of other operational processes. These streams can include information about each step in the process, including data access, transformation, and post-processing, as well as scoring. Scores or recommendations are created without interrupting daily business tasks. This option gives you greater flexibility in how you deploy models and integrate predictive insight with other systems. Or you may choose to export Clementine models to other applications using the industry-standard Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML).

Clementine Server can also deploy results in real time to any of SPSS’ predictive applications—such as PredictiveCallCenter™, PredictiveClaims™, and PredictiveMarketing™—as well as to solutions provided by other companies.
